Hiland Dairy buys Borden's Texas holdings

Borden Dairy is selling its Texas holdings to Hiland Dairy.

Pat Boyle, president of Borden, has said that the acquisition will not affect the employment of those working for its Texas operations.

Borden filed for bankruptcy protection in 2020, citing increasing debt and consumer spending habits for their financial slump.

According to the USDA, Americans have been consuming less milk over the past 50 years, with a rapid downturn in the last decade.

Borden has three Texas-based plants including Austin, Conroe, and Dallas, which produce more than 350 million gallons of milk every year.  They serve 9,000 schools across the U.S.
