A list of Memorial Day Celebrations around the ArkLaTex.

SUNDAY, MAY 28

Texarkana Area Veterans Council service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

MONDAY, MAY 29

Vietnam Veterans of America # 278's service will be held at approximately 11:45 a.m. at the Korean-Vietnam Memorial on North State Line Avenue.

American Legion will host an event starting at 11 a.m. at the Miller County Courthouse.

Texarkana Funeral Home commemoration will be at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery on U.S. Highway 67

Dedication of New Gulf Wars Monument with the J.E. Manning American Legion Post 258 The event will celebrate the unveiling of the new monuments, which honors veterans of the gulf wars. Houston attorney, Tony Buzbee, a Cass County native, will be the keynote speaker. Atlanta Mayor James Brooks and Cass County Judge Travis Ransom will also participate in the ceremony.

Hope Pubilc Schools seek millage increase, could be the first increase in 35 years

The Hope Public Schools have announced they are seeking a millage increase of 12 mills in an election set for August 8th. The Hope Millage is currently 34.7 mills which is one of the lowest rates in the area. Currently, Hope is 200th out of 225 districts statewide in the number of assessed mills.
