Two men were arrested after a high-speed chase with a Miller County Sheriff’s deputy left their vehicle sunk in a bayou.
28-year-old Xavier Melton and 27-year-old Bradley Ladarrin were arrested yesterday after the Arkansas State Police alerted MCSO about a Dodge Challenger traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour on I-49.
The vehicle was later located by deputies in Garland City. As authorities approached, however, the suspects fled towards Texarkana on State Highway 196 at more than 110 miles per hour, according to the pursuing deputy.
The deputy eventually located the Challenger submerged in the bayou off 196. Melton was still near the vehicle and Ladarrin allegedly attempted to flee on foot.
A search of the vehicle yielded $6,000 in cash and 18 ounces of marijuana. Melton and Ladarrin were both charged with possession with intent to deliver.
