The Animal Care and Adoption Center in Texarkana has closed temporarily. The adoption center is located on the 200 block of Harrison Street.
City leaders say the closure is in relation to employees at the center being exposed to COVID. In a news release the city stated that “the health and well being of our employees and the general public whom they interact with is our highest priority of concern.” The adoption center will be closed through at least Tuesday January 18th.

Hope Pubilc Schools seek millage increase, could be the first increase in 35 years
The Hope Public Schools have announced they are seeking a millage increase of 12 mills in an election set for August 8th. The Hope Millage is currently 34.7 mills which is one of the lowest rates in the area. Currently, Hope is 200th out of 225 districts statewide in the number of assessed mills.
