Texarkana man arrested for drug possession, distribution

Texarkana, Texas, police and Bowie County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a search warrant at a house on Chaparral Street last Friday morning and found almost 2.5 pounds of marijuana and 42 grams of psilocybin mushrooms.

38-year-old Lance Lovell was arrested for several drug charges.

Narcotics investigators had been looking into reported drug sales going on at the residence and the adjoining property that faces Pleasant Grove Road. Over the last several days, investigators made multiple controlled buys there from Lovell prior to the issuance of the search warrant last week.

In addition to the two drug possession charges stemming from the marijuana and mushrooms found on the property Friday, the investigators already had two arrests warrants for Lovell for Manufacturing/Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

Lovell was allegedly selling the drugs from the properties almost directly across the street from a child daycare center, so police enhanced one of those charges because it is in a drug free zone.

Lovell was arrested at the scene without incident and booked into the Bi-State Jail on all four charges. His total bond was set at $185,000.
