TTPD arrests suspect in conection with vehicle break ins

The Texarkana, Texas, Police Department has arrested an Illinois woman in connection with vehicle break ins.

Officers responded to a call around 2:30 a.m. yesterday about a man and woman breaking into cars at an apartment complex on Summerhill Road.  Dispatch informed the officer on scene that the suspects were leaving the scene in a small silver car.

The officer pulled over a Chevy Malibu matching the description and noticed that the woman driving the car seemed nervous.  23-year-old Marshayla Whitlock of Rockford, Illinois, allegedly told the officer that she was out looking for an apartment to move into.

Other officers on scene had discovered that a small black purse and PGISD Chromebook had been stolen from cars at the apartment complex.  The officer who stopped Whitlock’s car could see the items in her seat and arrested her.

Whitlock was booked into Bi-State Jail with bond set at $20,000.  Police are still trying to identify the male suspect that was involved.
