Wake Village man arrested for drug possession

A Wake Village man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and a substance believed to be fentanyl on New Year’s Eve.

According to a probable cause affidavit, 40-year-old Jeremia Rothmeyer had fallen asleep at a gas station in Ashdown when officers approached his vehicle.  Officers allegedly observed a pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine sticking out of Rothmeyer’s sweatshirt, which led to a search of his vehicle.

Police located 13.8 grams of methamphetamine inside the driver’s door and a glass container holding brown powder that police believed might be fentanyl.  The substance was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for testing and weighing.

Rothmeyer was charged with possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl.  He could face five to 20 years in prison for the meth charge and an additional three to ten for fentanyl, as well as fines totaling $25,000.
